At the Embassy of the Netherlands in Oslo, we maintain and intensify the bilateral relations between the Netherlands and Norway. We promote the interests of the Netherlands in the broadest sense, including governmental and non-governmental institutions, Dutch citizens, and the private sector.
We are now looking for aSenior Project Officer Maritime Economic Diplomacy. This fixed-term function will be fortwo years, starting in March 2026.
The maritime nations Norway and the Netherlands are connected by the North Sea. The maritime cooperation between our countries goes back centuries and is mainly clustered around energy and shipping. We are now aiming to capitalise on untapped business opportunities to further strengthen the maritime economic ecosystem spanning across the North Sea and beyond.
What will you be doing?
• The project officer is responsible for identifying relevant policy and business trends/developments in the Norwegian maritime sector.
• In cooperation with relevant Dutch actors such as the Netherlands Enterprise Agency, Netherlands Maritime Technology and other (regional) branch and trade organisations, Ports, and government organisations, identifying options for enhanced cooperation between Norway and the Netherlands.
• Building and maintaining a strong network of representatives from the Norwegian private maritime sector, as well as relevant trade organisations, government bodies, civil society and media with the view od enhancing the information position of the embassy.
• In close cooperation with the economic policy officers and regional business developer, advise companies in the maritime field on doing business in Norway.
• Signalling and providing information on relevant issues concerning market, trade and investment opportunities to relevant external partners both in government and the private sector.
• Writing policy briefs and alerts on relevant maritime developments, providing speaking points and other inputs to the (deputy) Ambassador.
• Shape and execute the Embassy’s economic and public policy related to the maritime sector, including outreach to the Dutch sector preparing presentations, organising the Embassy’s presence at exhibitions and fairs and facilitating incoming trade missions.
We would like you to have
• Relevant university degree, preferably at master’s level.
• 3-5 years relevant working experience.
• A thorough understanding on how Norway works, both politically, economically, business wise and socially.
• An existing network in Norway relevant for the position and the ability to develop and maintain this further.
• Excellent command of English, both orally and written, as well as fluency in either Norwegian or Dutch.
• Skills in translating insights and information into advice, plans and concise reports in assessing their policy and financial implications.
• A flexible and open-minded attitude.
